Blackened Chapel began in 1992 as a solo project, evolved to a 5 piece band in 1994 and then returned to Matthew Davis alone by the 3rd demo tape in 1996. Beginning as classic death metal, the sound evolved to be more black & doom metal-influenced by the end.
